Ideal Pastoral Description

PASTORAL QUALITIES

Harvest Church seeks the man God has already called to be its next pastor.  Although no one is going to fit perfectly, these generalizations will reflect this congregation’s next phase of ministry.

Harvest is a small-town church in an area centered on agriculture and small industry.  The ideal candidate will be someone who loves the small-town life and wants to put down roots in this community.  This small-town church is held together by relationships and not by a structure.  A “people person” will best fit into this atmosphere.

Harvest is a positive and flexible congregation.  An ideal pastor will have deep evangelical convictions held with grace.  An angry pastor or someone who needs one hundred percent agreement on all issues will not fit.  “Joyfully pointing people to Jesus” is Harvest’s mission statement.

The man with some theological training and ministry experience would be ideal, but not required.  The pastor must have a faith compatible with Harvest’s statement of faith.  Solid Biblical preaching and teaching presented with grace and a sense of humor would fit well here.

Pastor Doug has announced his decision to transition into retirement after six positive years of faithful service to the congregation.  He will serve until the new pastor arrives.  A younger family man with children would ideally take Harvest into its next phase of growth and service.

PASTORAL COMPENSATION

Harvest Church presently provides an approximate $61,000.00 total compensation package, including cash salary, housing allowance, medical insurance, retirement fund, and personal development reimbursements.  These items are negotiable and will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience.
